Jorg's Blog
November 27:
We are having the best early season skiing conditions in a decade. Check out some of the recent images from the Selkirks and the Monashees ranges on the CMH website. Currently, we have about 250 cm (8 ft) of settled snow at 1900 meters elevation around Revelstoke, BC. I'm heading there this Wednesday to start our heli-ski season! Ice climbing is also looking good. I did a trip into the Ghost River Valley last week with my friend Rinaldo from Grindelwald / CH. The House of Skies (WI 4) is in great shape already and we climbed all the way to the ridge line.
November 5:
A bit of a shock to dive right into winter here after 7 weeks of running via ferrata and climbing trips in Europe, largely under the warm sun of Italy's Mediterranean Coast and Corsica.
We took our first clients ice climbing already this season - the earliest that I can remember ever! Interest in our trips is up substantially from last year. Seems like most of our clients have decided that they are tired of holding back with their mountaineering and skiing habit for the "crisis" sake.
June 10: Summer is slow to come here in the Canadian Rockies with new snowfall all the way to town level just a few days ago. At any rate, our summer planning is going full blast and we got a bunch of new itineraries to offer. We also lowered our prices for our Haute Route summer and winter trips by partly reducing our service level to what seems to be the market standard (i.e no airport shutles or luggage transfers included anymore in the price) but also by taking a hit on our margin.
Again, we enjoyed coverage in a travel magazine: Our Cortina Ferrata trip is featured in the "Asian Business Traveller" June Issue.

MEDIA COVERAGE:
Business Traveller Asia-Pacific (May 2009): Featured is our Cortina Via Ferrata Trek as one of a series of outstanding adventures.

Vanity Fair Travel (April 2009): On of our all time favorites, the Haute Route Glacier Trek is being featured on page 123 as one of two hand-full of "Great Journeys". That is why we have been running this itinerary for the last 15 years!

Explore Magazine (October 2008):
Jorg is featured in "Explore", probably the most popular Canadian outdoor magazine, representing mountain guiding in a piece about outdoor professions.

Following frequent requests, we finally posted an article that Jorg wrote for Rock and Ice Magazine in 2001 about the mountain guiding profession in the USA - pretty entertaining reading but unfortunately not much has changed in 10 years since!

NEW
We now accept Visa and MC:
After holding off for many years, we finally decided to accept credit cards directly while we previously offered only credit card payments through pay-pal. It does make things a lot easier for our many international customers and it has become the industry standard. For our long term clients, who prefer to continue to pay by check, we offer a discount for as long as the booking comes in at least two months before the trip starts.
