Day-to-Day Itinerary:
Day
1: Airport pickup at Lyon International Airport or the main train
station in either Grenoble, Lyon or Aix en Provence. From there,
we'll drive to our first destination, the
Dentelles des Montmirail - a limestone crest with routes to three
pitches perched in the vineyards of the Gigondas, where the grapes
for famous french reds like the Chateau Neuf Du Pape are grown.
Lodging & dinner in a nice Hotel in the countryside.
Day
2 & 3:
Rock climbing in the Dentelles de Montmirails. Review of belay
techniques, anchors and skills on the first day.
Day
4: 1.5 hrs driving in the morning brings us to the quaint village
of Orpierre, which offers great climbs to 5 pitches in all difficulties.
Lodging in a nice Hotel in the countryside outside of Orpierre.
Day
5 & 6: Tranfer to the Drome Provencale - 1 hr driving. From
the charming town of Buis les Baronnies we have very quick access
to the Rocher St. Jean and the rocks around Saoux, with routes
around 4 pitches lenghts in all difficulties. Lodging in a nice
Hotel in town.
Day
7 & 8: Transfer by car in the morning to the Vercors, a beautiful
mountain range just to the north of the Provence. A mystical landscape,
with deep canyons and high lime stone plateaus. The colouring
of the decidious trees makes it particular beautiful in fall.
For climbing, there are numerous locations with excellent rock
within 20 to 40 min driving, namely the rocks of Presles with
routes from 5.7 to 5.13, 3 to 10 pitches. Lodging in our Hotel
in Rencurel.
Day
9: Transfer to Lyon International Airport or any train station
in the vicinity.
