Monte Rosa Mountaineering Week, Daily Itinerary:

Day 1: Meeting with the guide in Zermatt at 5 PM for trip briefing, equipment check and dinner together. Lodging in a Hotel in town.

Day 2: Cable Car ride to the Klein Matterhorn early in the morning. Ascent of the Breithorn (4164 meters=13660ft) and descent to the Guide d' Ayas Hut on (3420 meters=11220 ft) on the Italian side of the range.

Day 3: Traverse of the Castor (4228 meters=13870 ft - see photo above) and descent to the Sella Hut (Conditions, skills and time permitting, also ascent of the Lyskamm West Summit possible(4530 meters= 14860)).

Day 4: Feast day for 4000 meter summit collectors: After traversing across the Passo del

Day 5: Summit of the Zumsteinspitze

Naso, we'll climb the Parrotspitze, Balmenhorn, Corno Nero, Ludwigshoehe and Vincent Pyramid - all summits around 4250 meters (=14000 ft). Descent to the new Mantova Hut.

Day 5: Ascent of the Zumsteinspitze (4565 meters = 14975 ft- see photo) and on to the Rifugio Margerita (4555 meters = 14940 ft) for lunch in the highest alpine hut in the Alps, perched right on top of the summit of the Cima Margerita. From there on, it will be downhill back into Switzerland on the rugged Grenzgletscher to the Monte Rosa Hut for the night.

Day 6: Descent further down the glacier to the train station of the Gornergrat Railway and back into Zermatt by train - the easy way for your knees! Lodging in our Hotel in Zermatt.

Day 7: Departure after breakfast or continuation with one of our optional Matterhorn or Mont Blanc Programs (check with us for details!)
