The
area around Rogers Pass in BC's Columbia Ranges does not require
much introduction for most ski touring aficionados in North America.
Easily accessible by car or
public transportation on the Transcanada Highway in about 4 hrs
from Calgary, Rogers Pass offers some of the finest powder skiing
in the world! Situated on the crest of the Selkirks the area is
usually blessed with 10 meters (33 ft) of fluffy snow, which puts
it on top of the record lists of snow fall in North America on a
regular basis.
Just imagine
a vertical drop of 1700 Meters (5600ft) straight up from your car
door and an affordable hotel right in the middle of it. Countless
runs in the steep trees that lace the main valleys in the lower
elevations and the heavily glaciated alpine terrain offer great
choices every day depending on weather and snow stability.
Our base is the Glacier
Park Best Western right at the pass, however we can opt to spend
one night in the backcountry at Parks Canada's Asulkan or Saphire
Col Hut.Some
days require 2-5 minutes driving - often we put on the skies right
outside the hotel.
New:
At Rogers Pass our ski touring courses come with the CAA entry level
(AST 1) or advanced level (AST 2) certification.
Choose from 2 to 5 day course duration!

Can I do it?
For any of our ski touring
programs, you need to be at least an intermediate skier, who
can safely and controlled descend in various snow conditions
with a day touring backpack! You need to be in good physical
and mental condition, ready to be on your feet for about 7-8
hrs each day. If in doubt, give us a call!
Equipment:
You
need either sturdy Telemark Equipment or (more common in Canada)
alpine touring equipment - either is available for rental at
our base in Canmore. Please call ahead, so we can advice you
and set you up with the right equipment for you. As with all
our trips, we will provide you with a detailed equipment list
with your booking confirmation.
